How do I install Circles?

  1. Download the latest version of Circles for MacOS here: https://www.circlesforzoom.com/download/macos/

  2. Once downloaded, unzip and move the Circles app to the Applications folder, then double click Circles to run it.

  3. You’ll see the O menu appear at the top of your screen, near the clock. You’ll also see a login screen. Follow the steps on the login screen to login to Circles with your Zoom account.

Which system permissions does Circles require?

Circles only uses/requests the following system permissions: Camera, Microphone, and Screen Recording (only required if you want to use screen sharing). You will see MacOS system prompts the first time Circles tries to access any of those.

How do I join a Zoom meeting with Circles?

You can either click a link to a Zoom meeting and Circles will prompt you to open with Circles or Zoom. Otherwise, you can click “Join Zoom Call” from the O menu at the top of your screen, near the clock, then type or paste a Meeting ID or Meeting link.


How do I start a Zoom meeting with Circles?

Click “Quick Start Zoom Call” from the O menu at the top of your screen, near the clock.


How do I change my video or audio device used for my meetings?

Click Zoom Settings from the O menu at the top of your screen, near the clock. In there, you'll see options to configure your video and audio devices, as well as other settings to control your Zoom experience.


Can I use a virtual background?

Yes. Go into Zoom Settings from the O menu at the top of your screen (near the clock) and go to the section called “Virtual backgrounds”


Can I turn off the Chat message announcing that I’m using Circles?

Yes. Go into Settings from the O menu at the top of your screen (near the clock) and un-check the option: “Announce Circles when joining meetings”


Can I have Circles prompt me to use Zoom instead of Circles when opening links?

Yes. Go into Settings from the O menu at the top of your screen (near the clock) and un-check the option: “Always open Zoom Links with Circles”


Does Circles support Recording my Zoom Meetings?

Yes! When you're in a call, press the 3-dots menu at the top left corner of the first circle, hover over the Record section and choose Local or Cloud recording!


How do I uninstall Circles?

  1. Quit the app. (Make sure you don't see the circle in the status bar near the clock).

  2. Delete Circles from the Application folder. (Put it in the trash)

  3. Make sure you don't have circles anywhere else on the computer e.g. downloads folder. Do a spotlight search to make sure there are no other versions laying around.

  4. Empty the trash.

  5. Try launching a zoom link. It should now default to the zoom client.


How do I deauthorize/remove Circles from my Zoom Account?

  1. Navigate to this page on the Zoom Marketplace (requires logging into Zoom): https://marketplace.zoom.us/user/installed 

  2. Click "Uninstall" next to Circles

If the above steps do not work for any reason, please do the following:

  1. Login to your Zoom Account and navigate to the Zoom App Marketplace.
  2. Click Manage > Installed Apps or search for Circles.
  3. Click Circles.
  4. Click Uninstall.
